Raising vital awareness for Disney’s long-standing UK charity partner, MediCinema, which builds and runs cinemas in NHS hospitals for patient wellbeing, the series of photographs highlights the diversity of friendship. From brotherhood and mother & daughter relationships to work colleagues and allies, each portrait shows friends and loved ones united together in a celebration of the true power of human connection.
Misan’s moving black and white photography features a star-studded line up, alongside real-life untold stories that were shared via a special casting call. The gallery also features the touching story of eight-year-old Lucas who has been in and out of hospital his whole life and has since formed a strong bond with MediCinema volunteers, Billy and John, who Lucas now considers as his best friends. By supporting non-profit partners such as these, Disney is committed to create Moments that Matter by bringing comfort and reducing isolation for seriously ill children in hospitals.

MediCinema is a UK charity which improves the wellbeing and quality of life of NHS patients and their families through the power of the shared cinema experience and the magic of film. It builds and runs cinemas in hospitals equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs, and medical equipment. Its services help to improve emotional, mental, and physical health, reducing feelings of isolation, anxiety, and stress, and increasing patient resilience. During their stays in hospital, patients, families and carers can see the latest releases for free and get a much needed break from the isolation of the wards.
In a recent survey, 99% of respondents agreed that MediCinema makes a positive difference to their experience of the hospital, 93% said it reduced isolation and 92% agreed that MediCinema helps to reduce anxiety and stress. Since MediCinema was founded in 1999 it has given over 250,000 experiences to NHS patients and those closest to them.
MediCinema operates cinemas in the following: Guys, St Thomas’ and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals in London, Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow and Serennu Children’s Centre in Newport, South Wales.
